A very nice female led pop group that just called it quits. too bad...but from it spawned a solo project --Waxahatchee that is definitely worth checking out.

11/28/12- Alice In Chains- Nutshell

Two things:
1. With winter fast approaching, here is yet another fantastic tune to slow down to.
2. This is a fantastic example of what MTV used to be in its hay day.

TOTD Tuesday Doubleday Vol. 14. Getting legitimately cold out now, the mercury ready 10° this morning. Its time to slow down and there is not much better way then with some of this guys work.

11/20/12- Tex Beneke & The Glenn Miller Orchestra- I'm In The Mood

Well, from yesterday's rocking power trio of Kadavar back to the days when they had whole orchestras to play the popular music of the day. It's always good to get some big band music in your life- and what better song- Im in the mood for Thanksgiving time!

11/19/12- Kadavar- Black Sun

In preparation for my trip to Denver for Thanksgiving I figure I should get some joint papers ready and dig in to some stoner rock because hey, weed is legal there now and I'm gonna need an appetite for all that food.
In all seriousness though, its great to hear a power trio rip in to some riffs.

11/16/12- Sponge- Molly (Sixteen Candles)

Some songs have either a lyric or melody that get buried in to your brain only to resurface at some random point in the future. This is one of those songs. Although Sponge only had two radio hits- this tune and one called Plowed- both of which can be filed in the post grunge mid 90's sound- (others include the Gin Blossoms, Collective Soul, and Fuel (to name only a few). These bands and tunes had their day, but for the most part are now long forgotten- Until that day where that word, phrase or melody crawls out of the inner most folds of your brain. Last night something came up in a conversation with Jess where the words "don't ask why" where spoken. Just like that, "POW!" this song found its way back in to my consciousness. Find those songs in your life- they are long lost friends that deserve your renewed attention.

TOTD Tuesday Doubleday Vol. 13- Really big fan of this Mariah Carey track- great vocals, but what makes it is the sample of the Tom Tom Club's tune Genius of Love. Check both here:

A rather nice rendition of a classic gospel song sung by Jack Black in the film "Bernie.

11/9/12- Harry McClintock- Big Rock Candy Mountain

Turn of the century classic hobo tune...some amazing lyrics in this one.

Saw this Canadian duo open for Anamanaguchi and Fang Island a few nights ago. Was very impressed.
